How BMI works
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². It is a fast, population-level screen for weight status but does not account for muscle mass, frame, or body fat distribution.
Standard categories: Underweight (<18.5), Normal (18.5–24.9), Overweight (25.0–29.9), Obese (30.0+).
Use BMI as a quick reference. For lifters, body fat percentage and waist measurements tell a much more accurate story.
